20 AMERO Banknote
Description:
In the middle of the 21st century, members of the North American Union signed the Treaty on the Creation of a Monetary Union, also known as the Treaty of Des Moines. In the treaty, the details of the creation of the North American Monetary Union were laid out. Similar to the European Federation’s EURO, the AMERO is the consolidated currency for the six member North American Union.
The 20 AMERO bill represents the latest in currency design and technology, utilizing the tried and true polymer banknote technology that is now commonplace in the world’s financial systems. The 20 AMERO banknote features images of a maple tree on its front and the majestic Canadian Rockies on the back. Each denomination features the prominent nature and natural landmarks of the NAU’s member nations.
Idea:
The 20 AMERO bill is the second of two bills that I designed and made. If you are interested in reading about how I came up these concepts, please check out the 50 AMERO page.
Originally, my intention was to make three banknotes. The plan was to create a 20, 50, and 100 denomination note, each one featuring a different member nation of the fictional North American Union. However, due to time constraints, on the 20 and 50 were completed by the end of the assignment. The 100 note would have been a blue-colored note with American scenery on the front and back.
Process:
The design and creation process mirrors exactly the process from which the 50 AMERO banknote was created from. The only difference in the process was the need to cut different shapes to match the orientation of the transparent window. To learn more about that process, I recommend looking at what I did for the 50 AMERO banknote.
