USSF D207 Shasta
United States Space Force - Denali Class Destroyer
Description:
United States Space Vessel (USSV) USSF D207 Shasta is a Denali Class 2nd generation destroyer of the United States Space Force (USSF).
She is the 7th of her kind and was commissioned by the USSF and built by Abrams Wells Shipbuilders at the Tranquility Drydocks on the moon.
She is equipped with a single 2nd Gen magnetic confinement fusion engine similar to the ones used on the CMSV Langley, though her propulsion block has also been modified with emergency thrust mode, allowing the vessel to achieve emergency acceleration maneuvers of up to ¼ g for short periods without damaging the fusion confinement mechanism.
As a destroyer, Shasta is build for speed and maneuverability. It has a small, narrow body that is wrapped with lightweight armor. Her primary guns are two pairs of hi-energy railguns built on omni-directional turrets, located on the 'top' and 'bottom' of the vessel. Her main arsenal features extended range torpedoes that are capable of traveling thousands of kilometers and delivering warheads including tactical nuclear weapons. Accompanying the torpedos are anti-station/orbital bombardment projectiles and bombs along with logistical drones capable of extending Shasta’s effective combat range to about 200,000 kilometers.
Process:
This was the second piece I made for the world-building project, after the CMSV Langley. The Langley was suppose to represent a typical civilian vessel that would be large and intricate, while the Shasta would be representative of more military applications; smaller, minimal, straightforward in design. The art piece was made in Adobe Illustrator and used an isometric grid, from which I built the general shape and proportions of the vessel.
